Always a sports fanatic, I remembered in 1994, when I first learned of Tiger Woods.
He was still an amateur, but the golf enthusiasts were already regarding him in awe.
I was never a golf fan, nor a Tiger fan,
but I'm always proud when I see someone of color, finally making it.
Some might find that a bit racist. But who doesn't want to see someone who "represents" their ethnicity doing well.
It's been years since Tiger Woods' debut, and he's done some amazing things in his career.
So many great things, that many of his fans considered him to be some type of omnipotent, flawless golf god.
Then the story broke last week, and of course as an avid reader, and a sports follower, I started to follow the story.
It went from bad to worse really quickly.
From an Enquirer headline, to an alleged physical confrontation with his wife.
A one car accident, while he was taking medication and drinking. Neighbors claiming that he was snoring while lying in the streets.
Not a huge fan, but still liking the guy as a great athlete, I was hoping that the worst had past.
Infidelity etc, are all personal matters.
Then the other nine "mistresses", came out of the woodwork, from porn stars, to $8 dollars an hour waitresses.
Everyone one of them with their own little bits and pieces of evidence of Tiger's infidelity.
Voice mails, text messages, nude pictures, alleged porn videos, emails, recorded phone calls, allegations of sex addiction and drug abuse......
And suddenly I began to cringe whenever I would hear Tigers name.
But I was sure that the worst is over.
Wrong!
This morning a middle aged White female is taken from his house in an ambulance, and according to online sources is on life support.
Every gossip site is selling "TIGER IS A LION CHEETAH" "TIGER IS A LYING CHEATER" Tshirts.
Once considered the ultimate role model, his endorsements are all now up in the air.
His wife has moved out, and he is in seclusion.
Some might wonder if Tiger DID feel that he was omnipotent and above the fates that control the lives of mere mortal men.
One can only expect things to get gradually worse.
Turns out, there was proof of Tigers infidelity, from the moment he was a newlywed.
But according to the British online newspaper The Daily Mail, reporters and paparazzi, who had filmed his sexual escapades with a cocktail waitress, in  a CHURCHES parking lot were paid off, and although everyone in the golfing world seemed to be aware of his infidelities, Tiger was just too powerful to be touched.
He paid the tabloids off, by agreeing to pose for covers, and be interviewed.
One editor quit in protest, but having Tiger Woods on a magazine cover at his peak was worth the price to many.
Now that the mighty has fallen, and no one individual news outlet can be blamed for leaking the story,
the media is out for blood,
and they know that there's blood....
lots of it.
The press has been relentless, and if Michael Jackson's death is any indication of the coverage expected,
these reporters have their fangs in his hide,
they will not let up, and they will not let go.
Every "jump off", Tiger has used for sex, is now selling her story, or his nude pictures.
Once the photographs hit the net, they will be forever.
I guess that I felt compelled to write this today, because the life and times of Tiger Woods so far seems to be a cautionary tale.
Human perfection, does not exist,
but some insist on believing the fantasy and hype, anyway, especially with "hangers on" and sycophants whispering in their ears.
But everyone is flawed,
and everyone falls.
And the greater the height,
the louder the crash,
upon impact.
And the enablers, that aided and abetted,
will be the first to feel the fallout.
